just in case you need a laugh…

let me start out by saying that i should have known better than to pick up phrases from movies. let me take you way back to my first semester of french. in class we watched a movie and at one point one of the characters said “i don’t care,” or at least thats what the subtitles said she said. thinking this phrase would be very useful in situations like
-“where do you want to go?”
– je m’en fiche

or

-“what do you want to do?”
– je m’en fiche

so i tucked it away in my mind planning to use it in such situations. during my time here i’ve been throwing it out in every situation in which you might say “i don’t care”

for whatever reason i decided to look up the phrase i dont care in my french english dictionary to find out that the phrase was quite different. so i looked up fiche and definitely found the phrase “je m’en fiche.” the translation?

i don’t give a damn. oops.

on a similar note, i have been telling everyone here that i have “canards” in my bathroom, and that i hate them. today, while skimming my dictionary (my favorite past-time) i finally discovered the reason for all the strange looks. the thing is, the word for cockroach is actually “cafard” and “canard”?

“duck.” you understand the confusion right?

i went to the world vision office today which was incredible. i met tons of people and they explained to me how some things works there. i also ate the most delicious ice cream cake of my life. they told me the plan for tomorrow and i am so excited!

one last note. i bought a lavendar scented air freshner as well as some lotion (for ten bucks) that i looked everywhere for in the states and cant find. imagine my excitement. hatim showed me where this hidden mall is downtown that had some of the most beautiful things ever. im talking pier one/hobby lobby/pottery barn on steroids. is it sad that when i bought my stuff today and saw all the amazing decorations and things that i decided i could survive if i moved here?
