joy-full.

today was one of those days full of sparkling moments that i wish and wish would never end.

i took another roadtrip. this time, the other way (west).

beautiful moment number one: i climbed through jungle-like terrain until i came to a waterfall. the sound of the water and the warmth of the sun pouring down made me want to sit there all day reading a good book and drinking pineapple soda. unfortunately, i was lacking in both so i settled with listening to iron and wine combined with falling water and contemplated life.

beautiful moment number two: a secluded beach. i was all alone on a beach in gialova park- a place with all sorts of rare species of birds and reptiles. i spent a few hours there– tanning, writing, and making my own interpretation of earth art.

beautiful moment number three: this one was perhaps my favorite and it encompassed many moments in my day. cruising through greece, blasting john mayer, windows down, sand in between my toes. i felt life today. there was something just about driving through the mountains and beside the sea, listening to wonderful upbeat music that had me soaring. late afternoon i stopped at a beach where the water was crystal clear and extremely shallow so that i could walk out really far.

on my way back to kalamata, the sun was beginning to set and its golden-orange rays were raining down on me. i loved the drive yesterday, but this one today was particularly spectacular. unfortunately, the camera couldn’t capture the right contrast of blue mountains, golden sun, and green olive groves. i wish you could see it, experience it.
the photos of the building were taken in methoni on the grounds of a medieval castle town. the hitch-hikers from poland that i picked up (yep, sure did) went to see it so i decided to stop in quickly as well.
(these are not the hitch-hikers)
today was truly life-giving. it was calm, yet exciting. constant, yet relaxed. full of so much wonder and so much joy.

that’s the best i can do at trying to explain what today was like. i hope i at least gave you a little taste.

ps- one of the best things about driving here is that the speed limit is however fast you feel safe driving. 🙂
