if i didn’t believe in love at first site, i believe in it now. you see, i am completely enamored with brussels. i only get about 7 hours here- and all of those are at night. but what i have seen is absolutely magical. and i see and hear french. i will come back here….
dude, yes. i freaking love that city. it's so alive in a way that a lot of other major european cities just don't seem to be, somehow. it's got all this amazing history but it's still so… sigh. yes.
i mean i was only there for one day, only slightly longer than you, so i dont know much, but i do know that i fell in love with it too.
Tahnawannabelgiumit:
You know I am happy you got to see the Grand Place. I have been to Brussels 3 times and I think it is a wonderful city. Even though my colleague (Meghan) got us thrown out of a restaurant on the Place for refusing to eat the food that she "special ordered". It was her first ever trip to Europe and she learned that when in Rome…er, Brussels, do as the Belgians do (order from the menu, with no substitutions and EAT what you order)!
Belgium is a great country to visit because you can see great cities in Belgium and you are a reasonable train ride to Amsterdam to the north and Paris to the south. Head east and you are in Germany. Perhaps you and Jman can visit all of that part of Europe in the future.
I am sad that you did not get a Belgium waffle with INCREDIBLE chocolate!! I have failed you as a father by not directing you to a shop to have one. My first trip there I stayed at the Novatel Hotel just one block from the Grand Place and had those waffles for at least half my meals all around the town center!
Beautiful shot you took in the Place at night. Welcome home, may your memories of this trip never leave you.
Love,
Dad
mmmmm waffles….sorry, I got distracted there for a sec. Great photo and I am glad that you went for it!
