It all started with a ring. Well, perhaps I’m getting ahead of myself. It really started about age 15 when I became aware that I didn’t really have a favorite subject in school, but that my “interests” lie in travel and culture. Then, as one enters university, those are terrible subjects to take a liking…
Thank you so much for sharing this story and for creating this new project for yourself! I can’t wait to follow along and live vicariously through your adventures. And I’m only kidding a little about living vicariously…
I too got started into photography with a junky little camera, over seas, with no clue what I was doing but just enjoying the process. And now I’m in my first real year (on my own) of wedding photography and I definitely needed to read this. My non-photog friends just don’t get it, and I’m still sorting out what “it” is.. but reading this has given me some perspective. And it’s so nice to know I’m not alone in these feelings, although I don’t have the privilege + pressure of traveling for my work as much as you do- the sentiments are the same.
Anyway, I digress. This post/your work/this new site of yours just spoke to me. So, may your spark not only grow, but may it light up the sky… may you have the fortitude to continue to share your stories with those of us who are fumbling around in the dark wondering if we’re the only ones who feel so lost and so found all at the same time!

Hello La Bohemienne!
Oh wow your story is just what I needed to read today because it’s kinda of mine too! I’m from France, I studied communication and media and foreign languages because I’m all over the place and could pick one path. After 2 years as a project manager in a translation agency, I decided I needed to travel more. But an 8-days vacation in Buenos Aires, and 5 days in Istanbul (where I took my 1st interesting pictures with an old Canon AE-1) got me more restless and so I decided to move to New York and pursue photography and acting. Who knows! Today, I was in a funky mood because I spent my 1st two years doing the same job as back home – but in NY. Everybody tells me that it takes time to adjust and to build something from scratch, but some days I get sooo impatient with myself. Your story helped me remember that I shouldn’t give up.
Thank you so much!
Bises,
Sarah
