when Bari emailed me a few months ago asking me if I would come to New York to shoot the cover for her latest album, I was already intrigued. But when I read that she wanted to incorporate my vintage style with a fun cupcake theme- I was really convinced. During my time in New York last week, I traveled north a bit to the Byrdcliffe Colony, where artists reside for months at a time to help their art, and did a photo session there. The mountains and the forests were beautiful, the weather was perfect, and it all lent to a wonderful session with Bari. we had a blast scoping out locations, picking out cupcakes, getting her makeup done, and of course- doing the shoot. The entire experience felt more like vacation than work, because I got to spend some time talking to the other artist’s out there, going out to a delicious meal, and relaxing in a cabin in the woods. it was heavenly.
Her album “Anna and the Cupcakes” will be released on Valentine’s day and I can’t wait for it! If you get a chance, check out her music. She is a kids/family rock artist and her music is sooooo fun!
Here are a few of my favorite photos from the session:
Such a fun and sunshine-y session! I love the playfulness and the colorful cupcakes. And, it sounds like you had an awesome trip, Tahni!
I love these! Very fun and happy. At first, in the picture with the heart, I thought her bow was a pointy elf ear! Fairy in the woods? That’s cool… haha.
FUN!! We have been jamming to her tunes for the last few days. Amelie keeps yelling “HEY DUCKY” and Nadia is singing the subway song.
