college classes kicked off today. and for the first time since i was four years old, i wasn’t starting school when everyone else was. instead, i was going to work at a place consumed with school and students, only to receive disapproving comments from people that i know.
but i don’t mind all too much. i truly enjoy my coworkers, which i find to be far more important than many other things. i’d take minimum wage any day if it meant i got to laugh all day with my coworkers.
i am, however, a little bit sad not to begin the journey of another year. dealing with textbooks for courses like cultural geography, new testament greek, or history of africa stirs a lot of emotion and nostalgia for subjects i loved so much.
i can hardly believe that i won’t be attending classes.
**on a completely unrelated note, if you know anything about me, you know that i am, above many other things, a queso connoisseur. i have this unbridled passion for queso that i cannot, nor will not explain. if i could have only one meal before i died, it would consist of chips and queso.
i don’t blog about things that i don’t find important, so you should know how delicious this queso is. last night, i discovered on the border’s queso blanco. white cheese with peppers and pice de gallo. it is worth the $4.79 for a bowl. you will not regret it.
in other news, my respect for community church has almost doubled in the past few days. i spent the weekend at camp tejas in giddings, texas, with all the other families and students who attend comchurch. we spent time together playing, laughing, and relaxing. it struck me how special it was that an entire church (only about 150 people) would spend a weekend together every year. that although we aren’t all close, we all know who everyone is and a little bit about them. i think its pretty unique and i hope to always be a part of a community that cares this much about one another and being together.
Tahnawannabeacheesedip:
The truth is that life itself is school with differently styled classrooms. You will soon be richly educated in Greece and you will not need a single textbook; just an open mind, a receptive heart, and a wide eye for taking in the beauty of creation.
It is official now, we will take you out for queso on Saturday. Maybe we need to start a new craze of "Queso Walks" where one hops from place to place saturating and coating the stomach with cheesy goodness!
Lastly, just as you enjoyed your church weekend, so it was for Brooke and I this past April. As you know, Brooke got only 6 hours of sleep, but 3 days of complete satisfaction as she helped create the food that fed the folks. The amazing thing is that we attend Ecclesia because of you and it has been an amazing blessing. The is nothing on earth that is more soothing than the feeling that comes from people that truly care about and for one another.
I Love You,
Dad
Yum on the queso. Abuelos has a white queso too.
And it's very cool about your church and I am glad you had such a good weekend.
