all i have for today is some verses i came across the other day. i have heard them before in a song and even read them a time or two:
He does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
the reason that i decided to post these is because I read them that day and prayed them a little bit. towards the end of the day, i started to worry and felt that God would specifically NOT bless me because I sinned that day (crazy right?). and i realized that I always do that. I always think I may get punished or something based on something I had done.
I have always thought this way. mainly because the Bible says that God does punish us. So I have always really worried that he does all these little mean things or something as some sort of punishment for that time i thought that hateful thought or that time i lied. and then i realized after having read those words earlier in the day that it isnt true. that Hes does punish at times, but with a purpose- to teach. and that he does not “repay” us for our sins. i guess i always thought he worked like that. one sin here, one payback here. another sin there, another little payback there.
