This beautiful New York boudoir photoshoot of Annabelle was my second try at professional escort photography, and I have to say that it is some of the most fun and mentally stimulating work I do. As an anthropologist I have long sought to understand people, especially marginalized people, and sometimes photography allows me into worlds that I would otherwise have difficulty entering. Annabelle is a fascinating and wicked-smart young woman and has a lot to say about feminism, the body, and work that she is glad to do. There is so much stigma, so many preconceived notions, and very little of the voices of these women that actually get to be heard.  I have many many thoughts on the subject, including ideas about a full-blown ethnographic research project that I would love to take up, but I will leave that for another time. For now, just enjoy the beautiful photographs.
